Rajendra K. Agrawal, Ph.D.

Dr. Rajendra Agrawal of the Wadsworth Center was invited to speak at the Ehrenberg–Liljas Symposium on Mechanisms and Milestones in Translation, held at Uppsala University, Sweden, on October 27–28, 2025. The meeting honored the pioneering contributions of Professors Måns Ehrenberg and Anders Liljas, both distinguished ribosome biologists and former members of the Nobel Prize Committee.

The Wadsworth Center has a long-standing tradition of excellence in ribosome research, and Dr. Agrawal’s invitation to participate in this highly selective event – attended by leading figures in the field, including Nobel Laureate Professor Joachim Frank, formerly of the Wadsworth Center – reflects strong international recognition of the Center’s scientific impact.

Dr. Agrawal’s presentation, titled “Structure and Function of the Mammalian Mitoribosome and Beyond,” highlighted his laboratory’s pioneering contributions to understanding the architecture and function of the mammalian (human) mitochondrial ribosome, a research area his group helped to establish at the Wadsworth Center.
